Before the zoo moved to Schmausenbuck southwest of Mögeldorf in 1939, it was located on the grounds of the Bavarian State Exhibition of 1906, i.e. Luitpoldhain, and the so-called number ponds were also part of it. Originally there were four of them, today there are still two left north of the small dozen pond.
