It has now been almost four years since the Bassumer Utkiek was last open to visitors. Four years in which the former landfill was converted into a local recreation area. The work on the recultivation of the approximately eleven hectare site has now been completed, and AWG Bassum is very pleased to be able to give the public access to a tourist highlight in Bassum again.

You are free to explore the site. You can look forward to, among other things, various fitness equipment, a cable car, relaxation areas, a viewing platform, climbing course and a wonderful view - the Bassumer Utkiek shines in new splendor for young and old. Discover the Utkiek and enjoy the benefits of air and movement for body and mind.

Don't have time on the weekend? No problem! Visited in the months of May to September from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and from October to April from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Obere Utkiek is initially only accessible on Saturdays and Sundays - then at the times mentioned above.

The Bassumer Utkiek is a top destination, especially for a family tour with children. The old areas of the central landfill were closed in the years 2016-20 in such a way that (hopefully) threats to air, soil and groundwater are permanently excluded. Now these 12 hectares are a local recreation area at its finest. From the 88m high "summit" of the "Upper Utkiek" you can see the wind turbine parade in the north and south. Here, and also in the area of the "Lower Utkiek", there are shelters and various playground elements. What stands out is the great natural climbing path, on which kids have a lot of fun up and down. In addition, the area is peppered with various fitness stations - there is also a nice run with a few additional exercises. In the northern area, down in the valley, there is a picnic area by the pond, also with a small playground. For those arriving by bike, there are bicycle parking spaces and an e-bike charging station in the entrance area. All in all, a real asset for the region.
