    The chapel in the Scheuren district of Unkel is almost impossible to miss because of the strong yellow paint alone. It was built in the very early 16th century, destroyed and rebuilt and renovated.

          "... In terms of the church, Scheuren belonged to the Unkel parish as early as the Middle Ages and had its own chapel since the beginning of the 16th century at the latest, which is mentioned in a document in 1523.           The St. Josef chapel is located in the center of Unkel-Scheuren on the small village square. The chapel faces northeast and is surrounded by a sturdy stone wall. The single-nave church interior has a three-sided choir closure that protrudes onto Dorfstrasse. The church interior has a simple, three-bay cross-ribbed vault.

          The high altar by Peter Sasse, Attendorn, around 1700 / beginning of the 18th century is made of wood, colored and has 2 canvas oil paintings (around 1700), several sculptures, rich carvings and gilding. The paintings of the high altar show the Visitation of Mary / Visitatio and the Marriage of Mary. ... "
