From 1952, the capacitor factory manufactured paper capacitors for radio and television sets in small production facilities on the Polish and German sides. In order to meet the increasing demand, three more plants joined the network in 1963. In 1988 the capacities were no longer sufficient, so that a large new building was built: today's VEB capacitors plant in Görlitz. But only two years later the market collapsed when cheaper products from the Asian market ousted the former market leaders from Eastern Europe. The privatization of the plant failed, so that in 1992 the Görlitz capacitor smithy went bankrupt. Since then, the facility has been lying idle and could be explored through a hidden entrance on the left.

At the former VEB Kondensatorenwerk Görlitz, which began production in 1952, more than a thousand people worked during its heyday.
However, its history goes back to the late 19th century.
Before the actual complex, the remains of which are still visible today, various trades were located here in the early days.
After the Second World War, the company was renamed VEB Kondensatorenwerk (VEB Capacitor Factory), more precisely from 1952 onwards. Among other things, it produced paper capacitors for radio and television sets.

In 1990, the market for
electronic devices changed completely.

In 1992, after being
privatized, the factory had to file for bankruptcy.
The former major company in Görlitz
closed its factory gates forever.

Today, it is a large and impressive
ruin, directly on the banks of the Neisse River.
