The juniper heaths that developed in numerous areas in Germany as a result of pasture management are now areas that are particularly worthy of protection. Since juniper grows on both calcareous and acidic soils, the other flora in the juniper heaths can vary greatly. Many rare animal species, plants and insects live here, which deserve our unconditional protection in today's time of species extinction. They arose because the sheep and other grazing animals avoided the prickly plants. After the type of management was abandoned, there was a threat of bush encroachment and forest cover. The light-needing juniper then disappeared through the darkening. Today, the heaths are preserved through special landscape management (goats and sheep grazing). There is also another vantage point over Münnerstadt before you return to the starting point through meadow orchards
