The Prenzlauer Tor in Pasewalk is one of two of the four existing gates of the weir system that surrounded the city. The Gothic three-storey brick gate from the middle of the 15th century was built on a field stone base and secured the road to Prenzlau.
The 25.6 m high gate has an ogival passage with a square base. It is adorned on the town and field side with rows of pointed arches on the ground floor and the two upper floors.
At the beginning of the 19th century, the formerly existing stepped gable was replaced by a hilted gable roof.
The tower and the adjoining building have been the seat of the city museum since 1996, in which, among other things, the draftsman Paul Holz is commemorated. The gate is connected to the adjoining building by a glass staircase.
