The prehistoric Mushroom Rock overlooks the Jonte gorges and the village of Rozier. Its very evocative name dates from the 19th century and is the inspiration of a walker who saw it from afar. Immediately, the silhouette of the rock inspires him with the shape of a petrified mushroom.

it was christened "Prehistoric Mushroom Rock" in the 19th century by a hiker who distinguished it from a distance compared to a mushroom, petrified since the dawn of time.
It is a huge peduncular rock that stands at an altitude of 893 meters on the Causse Noir. With a length of 22 meters, it is the largest of its kind that we find, all Causses together. Vegetation has taken over again and despite a fire that consumed 500 m2 near the site on September 3, 2003, the rock is becoming increasingly difficult to locate.
