The Sanctuary of S. Biagio is a rock church near Ostuni, founded in the 12th century by Basilian monks. It is dedicated to the first patron saint of the city, whom the faithful honor on February 3 with a procession. The church is in ruins but an atmospheric place to visit with the scenery along the path extending down to the sea.

The Sanctuary of San Biagio in Ostuni is located in one of the most beautiful natural contexts in the province of Brindisi. Whether you reach the church from the top of the hill or go up the hill from the plain, the route is immersed in lush nature and characterized by stone artefacts which, due to their form and functions, bear witness to settlements from various eras. Among the ravines of the Ostuni Murge, a few kilometers from the town, along the road known as the Hills, is the ancient rock church of S. Biagio, today in an advanced state of decay, a pilgrimage destination every year for devotees who on February 3, out of devotion, they go to pay homage to the patron saint of the city of Ostuni. The origins of the church, Basilian cenobitic laura, and of the modest adjacent housing complex, seat of the oblate (or guardian), up to the beginning of our century, located in front of the church, date back to the 12th century and various parchments attest to it in irrefutable way.
