Every "Calvary chapel", like here on the Puig des Call, reminds of "Golgotha" ("skull height") near Jerusalem, the place of the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. A Way of the Cross often leads up the mountain or hill with the - nowadays mostly 14 - stations, early medieval precursors had only 7 stations and were sometimes also referred to as "Gang to the Seven Footfalls". In some areas of Germany, after the fourteenth station, the burial of Jesus, there is another station: the resurrection of Jesus Christ. These Ways of the Cross broaden the view of the Easter hope perspective of overcoming death and suffering.

We counted 152 steps to the top, but there were lots of slopes in between. The chapel itself was closed, however. But the view from the top is amazing.
