Description
Type three-aisled, late Gothic hall church, low, retracted chancel with 3/8-end plaster building, tracery windows, pointed-arched twin windows, west tower on a square ground plan with baroque hood and lantern, steep gabled roof, interior wooden ceiling, chancel with star vault, three-sided gallery, altar crucifix, baptismal font, organ (Jehmlich)
the Eve Wenceslaikirche stands on the former churchyard that is no longer used.

High above the roofs of the town of Wurzen rises on the Sperlingsberg the mighty Evangelical Lutheran town church of St. Wenceslai. Its huge roof and the tower with its Baroque curved hood form the cityscape visible from afar. The three-aisled hall church, whose current appearance dates from 1663 to 1673, was divided by separation of the altar room from the nave in the late 80s, so that a winter church was created, which corresponds more to the current municipal size. The Winter Church enjoys great popularity and is used for various events. The patron saint of the town church is the martyr Wenzel (Wenceslaus), the national saint of Bohemia.
