The Alpe di Siusi, in the middle of the Schlern-Rosengarten Nature Park, is characterized by extensive meadows and idyllic alpine huts. The Alpe di Siusi is Europe's largest plateau and covers an area of around 6,000 hectares. The Hochalm is located at 1,680 meters above sea level at the foot of the Schlernmassiv the sea level. The area consists of numerous meadows and is home to a variety of flowers and small forests. Over the decades, small settlements were created on the Alpe di Siusi, which now mainly serve tourist purposes. Kompatsch is the largest fraction and is located on the western side of the plateau. Here are, among others, the stations of the Seiser-Alm-Bahn, the Puflatsch-Bahn and other smaller lifts. The Alpe di Siusi also includes other settlements such as Saltria, Joch and Piz which are all characterized by alpine huts with refreshments and some hotels.
