    Nestled on the side of a cliff, the refuge of Petra Piana is historic. Built in 1971, it is the first refuge of the GR 20. Located at the foot of Bocca Muzzela, it offers 28 beds in addition to a few pitches for tents.

      The Petra Piana is a very small refuge, perched on the mountainside, which dates back to 1971.
      If you plan to sleep there, you must book your night online, on the PNRC (Corsican Regional Natural Park) website. The refuge is located near a spring where you can fill up with water, if you are just passing through.

          Hikers can rent small tents at the Petra Piana Refuge. The hut has simple but functioning sanitary facilities. Good hiking food and pietra.

                The Refuge de Petra Piana is 1,841 m above sea level. The view is said to be overwhelming, unfortunately we only saw fog in the evening and it was windy and bitterly cold. But the next morning we were rewarded. All the clouds had cleared and we were given a great sunrise!
