Probably one of the oldest and most famous oaks in Bavaria. It is hollow on the inside and an exact age determination is no longer possible with the help of the annual rings. Estimates range from 500 years (assuming a diameter of 6.30 meters) to an age of 1000 years. The pedunculate oak is regularly pruned so that it does not break apart under the weight of the crown. Because of the shape it creates, the tree is also known as the "shaving brush tree".

The "Guardian of the Field" is one of the few ancient oak veterans in Bavaria and is protected as a natural monument. It is a pedunculate oak that is near Nedensdorf.
Colloquially it is called the shaving brush tree and also appeared in the film "Luther".
