Designed in 1905 by the architect Romolo Squadrelli and by Eng. Mazzocchi, in Art Nuveau style, has recently undergone a complete external and structural restoration which has brought it back to its former glory. Even today its stylistic lines are able to surprise and enchant.

The Grand Hotel is an enormous building with seven floors and 250 rooms, with furnishings that were originally so sumptuous that they aroused wonder even among the aristocratic customers. The facade, 128 meters long, presents a unique decorative richness: dozens of statues, caryatids, zoomorphic elements, cherubs, festoons, contribute to the creation of a highly suggestive atmosphere.
Inside, the rooms are distributed symmetrically, the atrium and staircase in the center, the living and dining rooms on the sides.
Due to the huge costs of managing and adapting the systems to new needs, it was definitively closed in 1979. It has recently undergone partial restoration.

Seen in early May 2021: the renovation works seem to be well underway, the facade and most of the rear side have been painted and almost all the scaffolding has been removed
