The Sulbergwarte was first mentioned in the annals of the year 1400. It was probably built in the mid to late 14th century to protect against raids and to better control the Nuremberg freight road.

The Sulbergwarte was mentioned for the first time in the account book (Annale) of the year 1400. It was probably built in the middle to the end of the 14th century to protect against attacks by those from Minnigerode (on the Allerburg) and to better control the Nuremberg freight route.
The Sulbergwarte was largely spared from destruction over the centuries. At the end of the 19th century, it was decided to keep the Wartturm as a historical landmark. The control room was renovated and converted into a lookout tower.
