Gustav Nagel (1874–1952) was an itinerant preacher and life reformer who worked at Lake Arendsee. He erected several buildings on his "Gustav Nagel Site," including the Seetempel (Lake Temple) (1917–1930) and the Kurhalle (spa hall), built around 1930. While only remnants of the Seetempel remain today, the Kurhalle is completely preserved.

Nagel's work is part of the Lebensreform movement, which promoted natural lifestyles. A support association is committed to preserving his legacy. The site remains an important testament to his philosophy and architecture and continues to attract visitors.
