The one in the southern to central part of the Niepkuhlen lowlands (old river channel) The area contains several species-rich still waters, including two large ponds as heavily anthropogenically altered old waters of the Rhine and a very shallow pond, which was created in recent years due to the flooding of grassland and rows of pollard willows contribute to an overall high level of structural diversity. The NSG is one of the most important in the urban area of Krefeld. Due to the abundance of structures mentioned above, despite the location close to the settlement and the associated disturbances, it exhibits a rich fauna and flora. a. for aquatic animals, including waterfowl and amphibians, swamp and reed brooders and dragonflies. In the waters with their well-developed vegetation zoning, especially underwater and floating leaf vegetation, there are plant species from the Red Lists such as water feather and frog bite.
