The Sauerburg is the ruin of a hilltop castle above the Tiefenbach in the Taunus, which flows into the Wisper. It is located about four kilometers east of Kaub am Rhein near the town of Sauerthal in the Rhein-Lahn district in Rhineland-Palatinate. The border to Hesse is located east of the castle in the immediate vicinity.
Since 2002, the Sauerburg is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Upper Middle Rhine Valley.
