The historic "Amtfronfeste" building has a long history. Archaeological investigations in 1991/92 revealed the remains of a previous building from the 13th-14th centuries. to be determined. The building that exists today was erected in two construction phases, joined together and connected to the watchtower built in 1377 and the city wall.
The southern part of the building is likely to have been built in the 2nd half of the 15th century. Between 1553 and 1556 the construction of the northern part of the building was carried out as a residential building for the front office. Since that time the house has been handed down as an official feast.

The fron, usually called fronbote, belongs in Saxon land law to the proper occupation of the court along with count, guilty decision and lay judges. In addition to announcing the court assembly and summoning the parties, his tasks included monitoring the orderly course of the meeting. He acted as the certificate person and also acted as the judge's representative. However, its most important task was the execution of judicial judgments. The Amtfronfeste was the home of the Fron and served at the same time as a place for court meetings and as a prison with special uses.
