Demanding path, sometimes dangerously close to the abyss. We then turned back, that was too tricky for me with an 8-month-old child in the stretcher on my back. It is certainly a great adventure for everyone who goes this way! 👍🏼

The climb is less dangerous than the sign would have you believe. Nevertheless, you absolutely need sure-footedness and good shoes. Be careful when it's wet.

The hiking route from Pertisau to the Gaisalm is relatively easy. Hiking time approx. 1 - 1/2 hours, combined with wonderful views of the Achensee.

I would definitely recommend hiking shoes and sure-footedness, but you definitely don't need to be afraid. If you are a little slower on the road, you have to let the following people overtake you at suitable places from time to time.

You don't have to go to Italy or another southern country to go on a hiking trail by the sea. The hiking trail from Achenkirch to Gaisalm and further to Pertisau offers exactly this idyll - a rocky and narrow path right by Lake Achensee that looks like a sea.

The "Mariensteig" has been awarded the "Tyrolean Mountain Trail with distinction" award because of its special scenic beauty, views and flora.
This trail is very narrow and very exposed in places. Sure-footedness and a head for heights are absolutely essential!

Definitely fun to go this way. However, you should think about when to go. During the main hiking season there is a lot going on here and there is a lot of oncoming traffic on the relatively narrow path and you often have to overtake.
