The area around the sheepfold, on the west side of the Thülsfeld dam, is definitely worth a visit. However, considering the consequences, this visit should only be carried out on the designated paths with consideration for others.
This “highlight” is located in a natural area that is particularly protected by the FFH directive and is therefore definitely something special. However, the animals and plants should be given the necessary respect.
Quote from the Wikipedia entry on the areas on the western bank that are mentioned here as mountain bike highlights:
"The heath areas west of the Thülsfeld dam represent protected habitats of European importance in accordance with the Fauna-Flora-Habitat Directive (FFH-RL), which were reported to the EU by the state of Lower Saxony in 1999 as habitats to be protected."

In this respect, we ask you to take part in this highlight
to behave in an “environmentally friendly” manner. And here, don't ride your mountain bikes - off the beaten path - through the terrain!
