Not only are a dozen lakes surrounding the town of Plön, there are also around 12 enchanted "Twieten" (small lakes). The city guides will explain what a "Twiete" is and what it once served during a romantic evening walk through Plön's old town. Anyone who wants to know where the Brandenburg Gate is in Plön and what lies behind names like "Kusentrekkertwiete" or "Kaaktwiete" (small lakes) shouldn't miss the one-hour city tour.

Latüchten Tour: In the winter months, the tour takes place as a "Latüchten Tour" (small lakes) with lanterns and is at least as romantic as in the summer months!

In Hamburg, several particularly densely built residential quarters in large parts of the old town and new town were referred to as Gängeviertel. The quarters, which were mostly built up with half-timbered houses, emerged from the 16th/17th century as a result of increasing densification of the still medieval, small-scale city, and reached their greatest extent in the 19th century. The name "Gängeviertel" was based on the fact that the apartments were often only accessible via narrow alleys, sometimes winding or labyrinthine backyards, gateways and the eponymous passages ("Twieten") between the houses. The quarters were mostly inhabited by middle and poorer sections of the population, and small businesses were often located here.
