St. John's Church is the first church that the Evangelicals built in Würzburg in 1895. This church was almost completely destroyed in the air raid on the city on March 16, 1945. Today only the stump of the old tower with the entrance portal remains. The present church was built by the Munich architect Reinhard Riemerschmid and consecrated in 1957. As a memorial, it reminds us of the horrors of war and calls us to take responsibility for peace.
