Nothing is reminiscent of the Jewish synagogue except a memorial stone. You can find it only if you know where it is.
The consecration of the synagogue in 1894 represents the culmination of the Jewish emancipation in Lüneburg. But by persecution and flight, the number of Jews dropped from 175 in 1905 to 39 on 1.8.1938. The community leaders were forced to sell the property to the Chamber of Commerce and Industry and pay for the demolition of the temple. With a solemn service, the community dissolved on 23.10.1938. Since 1950 there is a memorial stone.
