Schloss Darfeld is one of the most impressive sights on the 100-Schlösser-Route through the Münsterland. With the castle Burgsteinfurt it shares the character of an original fortification on two islands with representative residential buildings of the nobility. Like many other castles in Münsterland, Schloss Darfeld is privately owned and inhabited.

The Darfeld moated castle is imposing and is surrounded by a large park and many water areas on the outskirts of the small town. The castle is privately owned and is still inhabited. Therefore, a closer inspection is not possible. You can go as far as the gatehouse, and if you're lucky and the gate is open, you'll have a view of the courtyard.
One should not attempt to simply enter the site, as there is always a guard in the gatehouse who will immediately ask you to leave the site and only stay on the public paths.
