ハイキング
The center of Bernau is very well preserved and takes you on a journey into the past. A special highlight is the medieval city wall. The is about 1.3 kilometers long and at the highest point over eight meters high. A beautiful green area leads around the outside of the city wall.

As Bernau's heraldic animals, the bears symbolize the capital of the city, the chicken stands for rural Bernau. Other animals are arranged all around, which stand for the individual districts: a peacock for Schönow, a bull for Ladeburg, two sheep for Börnicke, a rabbit for Lobetal and a miracle tree for the three smallest and new districts Birkholz, Birkholzaue and Birkenhöhe. A stray cat represents the link between the districts, a juggler stands for the Hussite festival.
