The 200-hectare reservoir, which is located inside the dyke, serves both to absorb the water flowing through the sewers and as storage space when the inland water is pumped in via pumping stations in the event of storm surges lasting several days.

The Leyhörn nature reserve is very interesting and worth seeing. However, the tour is not suitable as a circular route 🔄, as the further path 🚫 is closed at the lock. ⚠️ Walking and driving on the eastern dike is prohibited.

The lock marks the border to the nature reserve east of the Siel. When we were there, there was a lot of shipping and lock operation. It's nice to watch Kutter doing it.
