With a total length of 636 m (previously even 1,821 m), this is the largest, coherent graduation tower in Germany. Originally it was used for salt extraction, today it is used for short purposes and is connected to the nearby thermal bath "Solemar".

The brine trickling down enriches the air near the graduation tower with brine droplets and salt aerosol; the water droplets bind particles in the air. Similar to sea air, for example, this has a positive effect on pollen allergy sufferers and asthmatics and other sick people.

By breathing in salty air, the airways are moistened and the walls of the respiratory organs are positively influenced. In addition, the fine salt crystals have a secretion-releasing effect, clean the respiratory tract intensively of bacteria and cause the mucous membranes to swell.

Here you can breathe in the fresh, moist salt air, but be careful, the salty water droplets will stain your clothes and shoes! There are plenty of places around to linger and breathe in the salt air!
