In April 1991 bronze turtles moved into their new domicile, the Werth in the inner city of Barmer, in order to serve as a play area for children after the redesign of the pedestrian zone. The sketch came from Reinhold Baron, the metal workshop Karl Heinz Frotz produced the models for the bronze casting, which was obtained from the Uppendahl company from Weeze. One of the turtles was placed on its back to encourage children to do balance exercises. After animal rights activists complained that the children were being seduced into animal abuse, the turtle was turned back over. 200,000 DM were available for the play animals.

In April 1992 a bronze elephant followed in the amount of the Sparkasse. He was nicknamed Tuffy.
