After an arduous climb you have a rewarding view over Saalfeld, as far as the Schwarzatal and Greifenstein Castle.

It's only partially worth it here... if you love Rudolstadt, the view is great for you. But actually you mainly look at the paper factory and the blocks of Schwarza Nord. I found that less beautiful! There are more impressive places in the county

In earlier years there was a stone shelter, which was built in 1888 by the Preilippers in cooperation with the Thuringian Forest Association. The refuge, known as the "Preilipper Kuppe", was unfortunately almost completely destroyed by artillery fire in 1945. The remains of the ruin were later demolished for security reasons. Today there are only the last remains of stone on the top, but the great view remains.

A wonderful vantage point! In 2024, the "Preilipper Kuppe" was rebuilt here with great commitment by the surrounding villages. Wonderful for taking a break and letting your gaze wander into the distance

The "old tower" – as seen here – was already "impressive"; however, the "new" tower tops the ruins by far! And it was built by volunteers, what a great achievement!
