As the heart of Schleswig-Holstein's northernmost nature reserve, the Schlei stretches more than 40 kilometers into the country. The region's ancient lifeline is surrounded by rolling hills, lush green beech forests and wonderful hedgerow landscapes.

Romantic banks with beautiful views of extensive reed beds, wild cliffs and small bathing bays stretch along the Schlei in a variety of ways.
Characteristic salt marshes and the calm waters of the Noore serve as breeding, resting and wintering areas for numerous endangered bird species. The "Schleimündung" and "Schwansener See" bird sanctuaries and the "Reesholm" peninsula are of European importance. In the Baltic coast area, sandy beaches and cliffs invite you to swim and hike. You can easily cross the Schlei over the Schlei bridges and ferries in Missunde, Lindaunis, Arnis and Kappeln.
The nature park hiking trail leads past numerous highlights through the nature park. You can also hike on many shorter circular routes or put together your own individual tour.
