The "Grott" or the "Raufels"

Surprisingly and quite spectacularly, this bizarre gray limestone rock appears at the edge of the path in the geologically shaped area of the red sandstone. This striking rock formation was created in the same way as the Sudelfels near him. The highly calcareous and carbon dioxide-rich water of the higher-lying "Lehrborn", which comes from the Lower Muschelkalk, created highly porous calcite sediments over the course of many millennia Algae, mosses and higher plants emerged and continues to develop through encrustation of the plant parts a loose and porous tufa. The “Grott” or the “Raufels”
