    No mouth stays dry and no stomach stays hungry: The cozy Gustavstrasse is the pub mile of Fürth. There are of course beer and Franconian specialties, but also delicious burgers and Afghan dishes.

        Gustavstraße is THE pub street in Fürth in the middle of the old town. Because of the numerous historical buildings, it is one of the most beautiful streets in the city.
        Since 2011 there have been a number of complaints from some residents about noise pollution, which is why some events can no longer take place (e.g. wine festival), other events may no longer "play" on Gustavstrasse (e.g. Fürth Festival). In addition, the free cabinet space was limited and the curfew hours brought forward (no serving after 10 p.m.). Some innkeepers have given up (Yellow Lion) or left Gustavstrasse (Pfeifndurla).
        The main plaintiff has since left Fürth and is now doing mischief in Nuremberg. The damage he left will probably still fill him with satisfaction.

          The Bauerngasse (today: Gustavstraße) in Fürth was a section of the Via Publica. This led from Brussels in Flanders via Frankfurt, Würzburg and Nuremberg to Prague in Bohemia. The function as the main street of the market in Fürth was transferred to the parallel running Rosengasse (later Obere Frankfurter Straße, today Königstraße).
          The picturesque street with its town houses from the 18th and 19th centuries Century are considered to be the main attraction of Fürth, almost all buildings on Gustavstrasse are under monument protection.
          In 1827 Gustavstrasse was renamed after Gustav Adolf, because a Bauerngasse was no longer compatible with the city's self-image. In order to avoid confusion with Gustav-Adolf-Straße in Nuremberg, the first name was used.
          In 1903 the founding meeting of the Fürth gaming association took place in the Balzer Inn (today "Zum Alten Rentamt", Gustavstrasse 61)
          In the pub "Gelber Löwe", Freddy Quinn appeared as a hillbilly singer around 1950 in front of American soldiers and in Nuremberg on their radio station AFN, before he appeared in the Washington Bar in Hamburg-St. Pauli was discovered by talent scouts for Polydor.
