The Fürth City Theater is located in the center of Fürth, between the Frauenkirche (Church of Our Lady) and the town hall. It was built in 1901–1902 in the neo-Baroque style according to plans by the Viennese architectural firm Fellner & Helmer. The interior follows the Neo-Coco style.

The architects were originally commissioned to plan and build a theater in Chernivtsi (now Ukraine). However, construction there was postponed due to financing problems. For a short time, the architects used the plans for the Fürth Theater. Construction then followed in Chernivtsi from 1904 to 1905, with only the facade materials differing. Thus, the two cities have almost identical theaters.
