ハイキング
The castle was built before 1323, in that year the Schwenzlins first called themselves Hofen after their castle, which served as their ancestral home. The castle was destroyed and fell into disrepair after 1478. In 1535 the castle was mentioned again in connection with an Alexander chapel and in 1553 it was mentioned as a ruin.

Below the Ruin Hofen the Gustav-Jakob cave crosses the castle rock. The cave is with 427m length the longest passage cave of the Swabian Alb. It's an exciting experience on one side of the mountain into the cave and out on the other. For a walk you should put on a helmet and take more than a flashlight, or even better do a guided cave tour. Good providers are for example: cojote-outdoor.de

The Hofen castle ruins - only a small remnant of the wall remains. Super view through the Schlattstaller valley and a beautiful but steep forest hiking trail leads from Schlattstall to the ruin. But this is also relatively easy to reach via Grabenstetten.
