On the south side of the market square is the pretty town hall of Wernigerode. Around 1420, Count Heinrich built the town hall as a playhouse with a wine cellar. 20 years later he donated the building to the city. After another eventful history and several comprehensive renovations and extensions to the building, the town hall is now often used by couples as a wedding venue.
