What the Dresdner Frauenkirche is for the Oschatzer is the Aegidien church. That's how it is written. With 199 steps you can reach the top, enjoy the view and visit the historic Türmer apartment. But not in the winter. From Easter, the church is only open again. Really a pity for winter visitors like us.

Origins lie in the 11th century, after the Hussite raid, the predecessor church was completely destroyed. Then rebuild in the Gothic style, then with two towers. After a major fire in 1842, it was rebuilt in Neo-Gothic style from 1846-1849. It is visible from afar, as a distinctive point.
