The Neumarktkirche St. Thomae, a gem on the "Romanesque Road". The Romanesque cruciform basilica, which has largely been preserved in its original form, was first mentioned in a document from Emperor Friedrich I Barbarossa in 1188. From 1991 to 1995 the church was extensively renovated and the floor, which was raised to compensate for the rise in the hall level, was lowered to its original level. The node column at the late Romanesque main portal is unique in Central Germany. Pictorial representations of knots were often attached to church buildings in the Middle Ages as a magical defense against demonic forces.

The church is a hostel for pilgrims on the ecumenical pilgrimage route.
