Steudach was first mentioned in documents in 1348 as "Steudech". The place is also home to a large number of older and larger farms, which can be seen when you cross the town on the "Sankt Michael" street.

Towards the end of the 18th century there were 13 estates in Steudach (2 farms, 7 quarter farms, 1 half farm, 2 three-eighth farms). The high court exercised the Bamberg Dompropsteiamt Büchenbach to a limited extent. If necessary, it had to be delivered to the Bamberg Centamt in Herzogenaurach. The Dompropsteiamt Büchenbach was in charge of the village and community as well as the landlordship of all properties.[5]

In 1810 Steudach came under the Kingdom of Bavaria. As part of the community edict, it was assigned to the tax district of Büchenbach, formed in 1811, and to the rural community of Kosbach, founded in 1818.[6]

On October 7, 1923, the St. Michael war memorial chapel was inaugurated in Steudach. In April 1976 it had to be demolished due to dilapidation. A house was built in 1973 that still serves as a church and fire station today.[7] On January 1, 1967, Steudach was incorporated into the municipality of Kosbach after Erlangen.[1] In the period that followed, a new settlement was built next to the old town.
