The Refuge Ciotullu di i Mori towers over 2,000 meters. Up here it can easily happen that one is surprised in the morning by a light blanket of snow.

During our tour (September 2021) this hut was the only one left without drinking water. In addition, no showers and no toilets. Coming from the south you can take water with you from the river for the last time in the valley when the path branches off to the west.

Probably one of the best prospects with Tighiettu and Usciolu. From the refuge you can also start a half-day hike to Paglia Orba and leave your luggage at the refuge.

At just under 2,000 meters, the highest refuge of the GR 20. Most hiked on to the Castel de Vergio. But I had a fantastic time up there with a great sunset experience and a beautiful stillness.

Be sure to continue hiking up to Paglia Orba and enjoy the beautiful views. Unfortunately, the path is not really marked and you have to climb at a grade 2 level. But the views make up for the effort.
