Interesting funicular to the top of the Hohensalzburg Festival.
In April 1892, the construction of the funicular to Hohensalzburg Fortress, which was then used as a barracks, began. The operating company was the Salzburg Railway and Tramway Company (SETG).
Until 1959, the FestungsBahn was operated as a "Tröpferlbahn" with water from the Almkanal, today the funicular is electrically operated. In less than a minute, the wagons with 55 people are at the Hohensalzburg Fortress. Already during the ride you can have a breathtaking view of the city of Salzburg and when you arrive at the top, the view over the roofs of the city invites you to marvel.

The panorama is unique and offers fantastic views of the city of Salzburg and the mountains. The fortress railway runs every ten minutes.
