"Hospital zu St. Johannes" - today a museum is over 500 years the oldest building in the village Sayda. As the name suggests, the building was until 1945 a hospital for the sick and poor. Today it shows the history and lifestyle of the area, starting with exhibits from the 13th century. In any case, look!

According to tradition, the 'mild pen st. Johannis zu Sayda 'was donated by Bernhard von Schönberg in 1508 and built by Caspar von Schönberg. The knight marshal and Landvoigt Bernhard von Schönberg accompanied Duke Albrecht to Jerusalem and died on the way back on the island of Rhodes. The coat of arms above the entrance shows a killed lion after the fight, says the vernacular of bygone times. The coat of arms of the Order of St. John can also be seen here. In 1784 Adam Rudolf von Schönberg converted the building into a stately half-timbered building with a half-hipped roof. From 1990 to 1992 the restoration was carried out by the Erzgebirgszweigverein Sayda. This branch association opened an Ore Mountains local history museum in 1993, in which the history of the Ore Mountains is documented with over 5,000 exhibits.
