The Old Town Hall (white with red Rochlitzer porphyry) was built in 1496-1498. The high tower in the background of the town hall tower with the figure carillon dates back to the time around 1200. The Judith Lukretia portal at the tower dates from 1559.
The New Town Hall (sandstone) was built in 1907-111 and contains the portal of the demolished old Latin school from the 14th century.
The Jacobi church or its origins date back to before 1200. The west facade with the inscription "A stronghold is our god" (Martin Luther) was redesigned in 1912 in Art Nouveau style. The church was destroyed as well as the Old Town Hall and 90 percent of downtown Chemnitz. Nice that everything looks so good again.
