The Fählensee is the third largest mountain lake in the canton of Appenzell and is located in a very narrow valley between the Bollenwees mountain inn and the Zwingli Pass, embedded between the Hundsteingrat and Roslen-Saxer-First. Just beautiful. Highly recommended!

Very beautiful mountain lake at 1447 m above sea level, which, like the Sämtiser and Seealpsee, is part of the Alpstein.
Ideal for cooling off after a hike.

In its small valley incision, surrounded by high mountain ridges, the Fählensee lies quiet and black on cloudy days. On sunny days, the beauties of the Alpstein are reflected in it and make the hike here a worthwhile experience.
