The Wurm is a tributary of the Rur and has a length of 53 kilometers, its catchment area has a circumference of 354 square kilometers. The name has Celtic origins and goes back to the designation "born" (= water or warm stream)
Like most Aachen streams, it rises on the wooded, sandy heights of the south of Aachen, at the foot of the Eifel and, more precisely, at the source horizon at the foot of the Düsbergkopf, which rises in the Aachen forest. It has several sources. The source streams are: the northeastern and southeastern Wurm, the Luttiz and the Wormel, which flow into the Aachen-Diepenbenden reservoir. The source of the worm is cold in itself, but in the Aachen city area there are a large number of thermal springs that warm up the water of the worm downstream.

Very nice section of the Wurmtal.
The river there is still really natural and is still allowed to meander freely through the slightly mountainous landscape.
