The Grand Ducal Burial Chapel is located in the Fasanengarten (Pheasant Garden) on Klosterweg and Lärchenallee. It is the final resting place of 17 Zähringen members and was never a church.

It was built on the orders of Grand Duke Friedrich I of Baden and his wife Luise after the early death of their son Ludwig Wilhelm (1865-1888). Construction took place from 1889 to 1896, based on plans by Friedrich Hemberger. It was opened on June 29, 1896.

Hermann Volz (grave monuments), Wilhelm Sauer (busts on the crossing pillars), and Hermann Binz (griffin heads in the crypt) were among those involved in its furnishings. Two fountains are located to the side of the burial chapel.

Since 1946, following the destruction of the Protestant city church, the family members originally buried there have also been buried in the crypt of the burial chapel. There are a total of 18 coffins in the crypt; see the crypt plan for details.

There are two fountains to the side of the burial chapel. It also has a crypt that can only be visited as part of a guided tour.
