The Habsburg Archduke Ludwig Salvator had this path laid out in the 19th century. It leads through the high plateaus of the Tramuntana and offers magnificent views. Surefootedness and good shoes are required. Even if the path is called like this: You probably can't ride a horse here. According to legend, it was so named because there is said to be a painting of the Archduke and his friend, the Austrian Empress Sisi, where she is seated on a mule that he is leading.

One of the most popular hiking routes on the Balearic island of Mallorca today is the former bridle path of Archduke Ludwig Salvator in the Tramuntana mountains. The bridle path was laid out by the Archduke in the 19th century north of Valldemossa on a long ridge running west from the Puig de Teix and dropping steeply towards the sea during his stay in Mallorca.

The Archduke's bridle path offers hikers fantastic panoramic views. It is precisely these fantastic views that attract hikers to the former bridle path, which is now known as Camille de s'Arxiduc, all year round. Today there are two variants of the former cycle path, which are now used by hikers: a) A circular route from Valldemossa to Puig Teix and back b) A hike from Valldemossa to Deia

But I think that the 16 € are a very good support for the project. After all, it is nature that we hikers love and the protection of the black vultures. I have seen these beautiful birds several times in the wild on the island. A highlight on every hike. There is much to discover on the island. Nature always stays curious and protects.

The pictures can not play that. The path is a rocky rocky ridge path and senationell beautiful. I was inspired by the way and he is m.E. a must. Outlook to both sides. Unfortunately, one can not see the sea in my pictures because a wall of smoke pulled up (I was there in March). My guess is that the view is mostly free and also later in the year when the temperatures are higher. Who googles afterwards also finds a lot and great pictures with sea views. An Austrian archduke had the road built to ride his horse from Valdemossa to Deia. After Komoot the way goes on my marked route right away and there is also GR221 here. This section also looks great and is probably just as nice. I'll try this piece next time.
