Shortly before Stuetzerbach you will find a fairy-tale gorge, which gained notoriety through Goethe's poem "Ilmenau". In 1783 a large, nocturnal hunting camp took place here. Today there is a wooden bridge over a small waterfall. Standing there and looking up, you can almost see trolls and goblins romping among the mossy rocks. Goethe's handwritten poem can be admired in the Goethe Museum in Stutzerbach.

The Finstere Loch is a densely wooded rocky gorge with a small waterfall in the upper part of the Schortetal in the Thuringian Forest. It is located about 1.5 km southeast of Stützerbach in the Ilm district, and the Goethe hiking trail Ilmenau-Stützerbach passes by.

This stamp box was the worst we have ever seen.
Apart from the fact that it is installed at an impossible height, it was covered in thick, white mold... simply disgusting!

Maybe the location directly above the stream just doesn't make much sense and it would be better to place it at the sign next to the bench

I have to agree with you there. It's a strange installation. Not for children.
But there are worse stamp boxes in Touringen, where you wonder what's worth seeing here, putting up a stamp box.
