Located at the end of the road that goes up from Tosi or Reggello, the Vallombrosa Abbey, founded by San Giovanni Gualberto, is located in the center of the forest of the same name in a pleasant and fascinating place.
Benedictine abbey surrounded by beech and fir forests. Valombrossa was founded in 1038 by the Florentine nobleman Giovanni Gualberto and became the motherhouse of the Vallumbrosan Order. The church can be visited. Now and then there are concerts.
There is a small monastery shop for souvenirs, honey, cream etc.
There is a playground for the kids. Rest areas and also a restaurant / snack is nearby.
The very first construction in this area dates back to the beginning of the year one thousand. After numerous works and renovations over the centuries it became a splendid Abbey which today is located along the route of the Chapels of Vallombrosa.
