Another huge granite boulder next to the scenic Herzogtisch is the Athletenstein, covered in moss and lichen. Nestled in the beautiful forest, it's a popular bouldering and climbing spot, with walls up to ten meters high.

It's right next to the official mountain bike trail, but it's easy to miss because it's hidden in the trees. Beautiful granite rock formation, which is also suitable for climbing. If you are sure-footed (!) and free from giddiness, you can also get up there without a rope (entrance right on the back). Definitely worth a stop and some photos!
